FAQ - Whistle GO Explore

Does this tracker need WiFi to work?

No, WiFi is not required for the Whistle GO to work. When it does connect to WiFi, however, it will upload activity and location data about your pet to the app on your smartphone.

Where can I find the smartphone app?

Search for 'Whistle: Smart Pet Tracker' in your phone’s app store to download the free app that pairs with the tracker.

What countries does the Whistle GO Explore work in?

The GPS on your tracker will work in the US and Canada, regardless of distance from your smartphone. It may work outside of those countries, although less reliably.

How long will the battery last?

The Whistle GO Explore can last up to two days on a single charge depending on cell coverage in the area.

How do I attach it to my pet’s collar?

Your tracker comes with two different collar attachments to fit to an existing collar: a plastic snap attachment and a hook-and-loop style attachment.

Is it waterproof?

Yes, the Whistle GO Explore can be submerged for up to 30 minutes in six foot deep water. (Waterproof rating: IPX8)

Will this tracker keep my pet within a specific area?

No, this tracker is intended to locate your pet rather than prevent them from going anywhere. If your pet leaves the safe area you set up and is no longer in WiFi range you’ll get a notification and can start a “Find My Pet” session to track their location.

Can I set up more than one safe zone?

Yes, you can register up to 10 safe zones in the app.

Do I need an AT&T plan to use this tracker?

While Whistle leverages AT&T’s LTE network for coverage, you don’t need to be an AT&T customer to use the Whistle GO Explore. Your tracker is a bit like a mini cell phone for your dog, so while it does need its own cellular plan, your 360 subscription plan takes care of that connection.
